SAP Data Migration Consultant
About the Role
SPV Consulting is hiring a SAP Data Migration Consultant to join our delivery team, working on the data side of client transitions from legacy systems into modern SAP environments, S/4HANA included. This is the role that decides whether a go-live weekend runs smoothly or turns into a fire drill, the quality of the migrated data underneath everything else.
We’re looking for someone who’s actually sat through a full migration lifecycle before, from first extraction to final reconciliation, and knows where things tend to go wrong before they happen. You’ll be hands-on with the technical work while also being the person in the room who can explain to a client stakeholder why a particular data object needs cleansing before it ever gets close to a mock load.
What You'll Do
- Drive data migration work end to end — pulling data out of legacy systems, transforming it, cleaning it up, validating it, and loading it into the target SAP environment
- Set the migration scope early, working with project leads and client stakeholders to agree on which data objects are in play and how cutover will actually run
- Build out the mapping documentation and transformation logic connecting source systems to the target SAP landscape
- Coordinate with SAP MDG, core functional modules like MM, SD, and FI/CO, and whatever legacy or third-party systems are feeding data into the migration
- Run mock loads and dry runs well ahead of go-live, catching reconciliation gaps while there’s still time to fix them properly
- Lead workshops with client stakeholders to pin down what “acceptable” data quality actually means for their business, not just a generic standard
- Support the testing cycle — unit, integration, and user acceptance, specifically for the migrated data itself
- Put together the documentation the team will actually use: run books, cutover plans, functional specs
- Stay engaged through hypercare, chasing down data issues as they surface once the system is live
- Keep project leads and clients honestly updated on where things stand, what’s at risk, and what’s in the way
- Work alongside SAP MDG and Syniti ADM consultants to keep governance and tooling decisions consistent across the program
What You Bring
- Real experience leading or supporting SAP data migration projects — legacy-to-SAP, SAP-to-SAP, or S/4HANA conversions specifically
- A genuine working understanding of migration methodology: extraction through load, and everything in between
- Practical experience with migration tooling such as LSMW, BODS, LTMC/LTMOM, or comparable platforms
- Experience handling core master and transactional data across MM, SD, and FI/CO
- Professional working proficiency in English
Bonus Points
- You’ve worked directly in SAP Migration Cockpit or other S/4HANA-native migration tools
- You’ve been part of migration work using SNP or Syniti methodologies
- You hold an SAP certification tied to data migration or a related functional area
- You understand data governance frameworks like SAP MDG and how they connect to migration-ready data
